Ashburn Academy of Ballet Dress Code

The Ashburn Academy of Ballet's dress code is designed to encourage unity and discipline among students. The dress code also serves to further distinguish the school's reputation as a professional ballet academy dedicated to the development and training of dancers.

Please note the style of tights that are required for the school performance in June.

Creative Movement (Ages 3-5)

            Black or pink leotard

Pink footed tights (Capezio 1815C, pink)

            Pink leather ballet shoes with elastic

Pre-Ballet and Ballet (Ages 6-7)

            Black leotard- no skirts are permitted

Pink footed tights (Capezio 1815C, pink)

            Pink leather ballet shoes with elastic

Ballet (Ages 8+)

            Black leotard- no skirts are permitted

Pink footed mesh tights with seams (Danskin 32 or Danskin 71, ballet pink or Capezio C-8, classical pink)

            Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes with elastic

            Additional Shoes may be required:  Character (Capezio 550, tan)

Hip-Hop

            Comfortable clothing and clean tennis shoes

Lyrical

            Foot Paws

Adult Ballet

            Solid color leotard

            Black or pink tights (footed or footless)

            Pink leather or canvas ballet shoes with elastic

Intro to Jazz and Jazz 1

Solid color leotard

Black or tan tights (Capezio Hold and Stretch in light tan) or jazz pants  (Tights required for the performance will be announced once costumes are chosen)

Any style TAN jazz shoe except for boots. Ankle boots are okay.  (TAN shoes are required for class as well as the performance)

Jazz 2 – Jazz 5

            Solid color leotard

Black or tan tights (Capezio Hold and Stretch in light tan) or jazz pants (Tights required for the performance will be announced once costumes are chosen)

Any style BLACK jazz shoe except for boots. Ankle boots are okay.  (BLACK shoes are required for class as well as the performance)

Intro to Tap – Tap 2

            Solid color leotard

Tan (Capezio Hold and Stretch in light tan) or black tights or jazz pants (Tights required for the performance will be announced once costumes are chosen)

*SHOE REQUIREMENT: Style number SO302G Bloch TAN tap shoes are required for the performance and for classes

Tap 3 and Tap 4

            Solid color leotard

Black or tan tights or jazz pants (Tights required for the performance will be announced once costumes are chosen)

*SHOE REQUIREMENT: Style number CG55 Capezio BLACK oxford tap shoes are required for the performance and for classes

Males

Creative Movement and Ballet

            Black tights/Black leggings (footed or footless)

            White T-shirt

            Black ballet shoes with elastic, white socks when wearing footless tights/black leggings
Jazz and Tap

            Solid color T-shirt

            Black tights or jazz pants

            Black jazz shoes and black tap shoes
